Keeping the swim team going
As many of you know, this is my final summer running the swim team. It is such a wonderful institution for our children, it's imperative that we have several individuals step forward to pick up the reins to keep it going.
I recommend my role be split into three separate jobs - Meet Management, Sponsorship and Coaching/Team Logistics. This will share the work and allow backup for the inevitable summer travel/sick child events. This also means that someone with a full-time job can absolutely take one of these roles. This coming season is an opportunity for knowledge transfer so the incoming leadership team can learn the ropes as we go, rather than trying to figure it all out for the first time next year. It's even more urgent that we get the group started sooner rather than later as I will be absent from many of the practices toward the end of the season -- beginning on 6/20.
Please consider volunteering for one of these positions - let's call it the Management Team - and email me as soon as possible with your preference of role. This is a wonderful way for you to support your children, our neighborhood's children and keep this fantastic group of Mallards swimming long into the future.
