Family Volunteer Requirements

The Neely Swim Team is an ALL-VOLUNTEER program and parent participation is mandatory. It takes approximately 50 volunteers to efficiently and effectively run a home swim meet.  (Fewer at away meets, but still a lot.) Swim meets require ALL HANDS ON DECK! Literally. To ensure the meet runs smoothly and safely, providing the best experience possible for our swimmers and spectators, one adult member of each family is REQUIRED to work every meet in which their child is swimming.

  1. Each family is required to sign-up for and work at least 1 session (1 volunteer role) per swim meet in which your child is swimming. The regular season includes five dual swim meets and a practice/mock meet.
  2. Home swim meets require extra volunteers, and we need EVERY FAMILY to volunteer to work 1 additional session (2 volunteer roles total) at 1 home meet.
  3. Each family is also required to volunteer at our primary fundraiser, Silver Linings.  There are two shows, Spring and Holiday, and each show requires about 40 volunteer shifts.  Additionally, if your family attends the End of Season Swim Banquet, one adult family member is required to volunteer for one shift.
  4. Other events for which we need volunteers:
    • Team Kickoff Breakfast
    • Team Movie Night
    • ASA Divisionals

Volunteer RSVP will be open via the Neely Mallards website. Please volunteer for each meet in which your child(ren) will be swimming.  Once the Job Signup closes, swim meet Volunteer positions will be assigned for those who missed the open registration.

Please NOTE: Should your plans change after the SUNDAY prior to each swim meet, you are responsible for finding a substitute for your volunteer position!  Finally, failing to volunteer at any swim meet in which your child is swimming will result in your child being scratched from the meet.
