Swim Team Practice on 5/18 Cancelled
May 18th
Good morning,
Let me start by letting you know how sorry I am for the last minute nature of yesterday's practice changes. Coach Emily arrived to the pool a little after 4pm and found that the construction we had been assured would be completed Monday was still underway. Nancy Alexander sent this email to me last night so you would have some explanation.
Given that construction may not be done by 4pm today, and that it's again not going to be very warm, I'd prefer we not play guessing games with our kids and their schedule. Consequently, we will cancel practice for today. We will have practice Thursday and Friday afternoons this week when the weather is much warmer.
Thank you for your patience and understanding,
Maureen
Maureen,
Please feel free to forward this email to the team.
I apologize for the interruption to the swim team practice schedule caused by the pool fence replacement. I understand the effort required to get the team ready for the first meet and appreciate how frustrating this must be.
The construction crew cannot guarantee the pool fence replacement will be finished on Wednesday in time for your swim practice. The delays experienced with this project are unfortunate with respect to the pool opening and the swim team practices. The legal dispute with the original contractor with regard to the poor quality fence that was installed last year has been ongoing since last fall. Attempts to work out a solution failed and the Board was left with no choice but to obtain bids and schedule the installation of a new fence. This process has been pursued in as timely a manner as possible.
The installation process was delayed by a day when it was discovered that 27 fence posts would need to be core drilled. Once started, the project has progressed as quickly as possible, and the workmanship is giving the homeowners a fence that will last many years and will provide a much more secure enclosure for the pool.
If you have any questions regarding this project please feel free to contact me.
Nancy
