Our first swim meet of 2011!
If you have volunteered for meet setup, please arrive before 4pm. Otherwise, plan to arrive around 4:15pm to get your child marked for their events (we write on them in sharpie) and to get them situated in their bullpen. Warmup for our team will be at 4:30pm.
Review with your child that they are to remain in their bullpen during the meet and follow the instructions of their bullpen parents. We cannot chase down swimmers from the playground or spectator area to get them to their events and it's very sad when a swimmer misses their event because they were not in the bullpen. It also slows down the meet. They are welcome to bring games and activities to keep themselves occupied as well as snacks for sustenance and entertainment.
The meet begins at 5:30p but we start lining up the swimmers for relays at 5:15p and need all first half volunteers at their job at that time. If you would like additional information about how a meet is run and the various roles, please review our Team Manual on our website.
First half volunteer changeover occurs at Event 43 -- hard to predict the precise time of that but the second half of the meet does go more quickly as our 6-under swimmers are finished for the night and are free to head home.
The grill team will have tasty burgers cooking, we will have Dagwoods pizza available as well as candy and beverages for purchase.
Finally, if you can assist in any way with cleanup before heading home -- taking down some trash or assisting with concessions breakdown -- I would be deeply grateful.
