Neely Swim Team's Weekly Newsletter

Each week our swimmers keep improving their times.  It is great to see 64 swims of improved times from the first meet this season.  We doubled the number of improved swims from last week, showing how much work our swimmers are doing at practice.  This week my coaches will continue to work on improving your swimmers breaststroke and butterfly as well as continuing to improve strength and endurance.  Tuesday will be the real test of endurance as swimmers participate in the 3rd annual “Distance Day Practice.”  I also encourage all swimmers to make as many of the morning and afternoon practices on Mondays and Wednesday which will help to your swimmers to become stroke techniques, stroke strength, and stroke endurance.  Another way to improve stroke technique is to attend Saturday stroke clinics and to sign up for private swim lessons with Coach Dave, Coach Leanne, or Coach Emily.

I am very pleased to hear that many swimmers want to keep swimming after the season is over.  I am trying to work out the details of ways to keep our swimmers in the water during July and August.  This will help our swimmers stay in swimming shape and to continue to improve proper stroke technique.  More details of this extra post season training will be announced during the last week of the season.

Looking ahead to after the summer time I would really like to see our swimmers join the Fowler YMCA swim team, Dynamo Swim Club, or Swim Atlanta Swim Club. All of these are great places for our swimmers to improve stroke technique, swimming strength, and endurance.  Please email Coach Dave or talk to him at practice for more details.  (Coach Dave’s email:  [email protected] )

Finally, I would like to encourage all the 15-18 swimmers to continue swimming for their high school swim teams.  This is a great way to keep swimming and to get involved in your school.  If your swimmer has any questions or concerns, please have them see Coach Dave at practice.

In closing, I want to thank my entire coaching staff for taking care of meet warm-ups, encouraging swimmers behind the blocks at meets, and making sure your swimmers are prepared to race in all swim meets.  I appreciate each coach and I thank you for your commitment to our team.  Also, the swim team parent board is the best I have ever worked for – thanks for being awesome.
