Week of June 8, 2014
Mallard Families,
Finally, we get a home meet this coming Thursday! We can sit on our own chairs, have our bullpens on deck, and enjoy our own food and team spirit!
We had a very good meet last Thursday vs. Tuxford. The lead was back and forth all meet. The meet was officially declared a tie due to the inclement weather and the fact that neither team was ahead by 40 points at the conclusion with the meet at least through event 43.
Again, we coaches want to give a big shout-out to you parents for your volunteer efforts. Everything ran really smoothly which is all we can ever hope for!
Here are this week's announcements:
- RSVP for the Haynes Landing meet by 8:00 pm Sunday night
- Tuxford meet recap
- Saturday stroke clinic
- Private swim lessons
- Haynes Landing RSVP list
RSVP for the Haynes Landing meet by 8:00 pm Sunday night
Our next meet is Thursday at home against Haynes Landing. As of Sunday afternoon we have only 71 out of 116 swimmers registered for the meet (see the list below.) We have 12 swimmers who are not attending and 33 swimmers who we need an RSVP from by the 8:00 pm deadline tonight to be able to enter them in the meet.
We also still need 16 volunteers. If your child swims in the meet, then you need to volunteer!
Please RSVP and volunteer by 8:00 pm tonight, Sunday, June 8, so you can get to get your swimmers in the meet. We're trying to make this as easy as possible for you, so everything is just one click away:
- Click here to RSVP for the meet
- Click here to Volunteer for the meet
Please help us out and RSVP and volunteer now so that we can get as many swimmers into the meet as possible.
Tuxford meet recap
You can see the meet results here. We had to stop the meet early again due to inclement weather. Our swimmers continue to show strong improvement with many, many huge time drops. The refs were on the prowl for DQs this week, so we'll make sure we review the rules to make so our swimmers can make corrections.
Swimmers of the Week (Goggles):
- Boys: Emilia Youngman - 30.12% improvement in the Girls 6 & Under 25 Free
- Girls: Peter Cassar - 22.12% improvement in the Boys 6 & Under 25 Free
Spirit Award of the Week (Towel): Macy Michaud for swimming extra events and cheering her teammates on!
Saturday stroke clinic
We had our second Saturday stroke clinic and continued to focus on Freestyle and Breaststroke turns and Breaststroke pulling. Our coaches will continue to monitor our swimmers' performances at meets to determine what best to focus on in these clinics to help our swimmers improve the most.
Private swim lessons
If you are interested in private swim lessons from coach Mark or Coach Emily, please let us know. If you have questions, contact one of us before or after practice or via email. Coach Mark can be reached at [email protected]. Coach Emily can be reached at [email protected].
See you at the pool.
