Swim team families,

I hope each of your families are easing into Fall and enjoying the cooler weather. I realize that our minds may be on Halloween costumes and the upcoming holidays. However, know that the efforts behind the scenes are still going strong as we work on an organizational restructuring of the team.  News will be forthcoming about our new structure and volunteer opportunities in team leadership.

On another note, many of us enjoy the highly successful Swim Team/ Silver Linings fundraisers which typically occur in the Spring and early Winter.  Silver Linings is owned by friend and neighbor Lisa Long.  Lisa has donated thousands of dollars to the swim team in recent years by teaming up with us and hosting fabulous gift sales at our clubhouse.  One of her fundraisers had been planned for November 2015.  Unfortunately, the November sale will be canceled.  More importantly, Lisa is battling breast cancer for the second time.  She has given me permission and, in fact, has asked that I share this information with each of you.  She will be undergoing treatment through February 2016.  Lisa is facing this new challenge with her usual courage, strength, and sense of humor.

I have assured Lisa that the Mighty Mallards would much rather her focus on her healing now than worry over raising money for our swimmers.  However, she feels awful about having to cancel this wonderful event, as Lisa always stands by her commitments and hates to disappoint any of us!  Lisa is already receiving requests for holiday gifts and information about this much-loved event.  Please feel free to spread the word that this year Lisa and Silver Linings will be taking a holiday hiatus.
