Week #3 - Mock Meet Week

Happy last week of school! It is already time for our Mock Meet this Thursday!

Action items for this week:

  1. Sign your swimmer up here for the mock meet today so Coach Sydney can enter Meet Entries on Monday. Please also confirm your swimmer’s availability for the rest of the season while you are there.
  2. Sign up here for a volunteer role for this week’s Mock Meet. If you have any questions about volunteer roles, reach out to Elizabeth Magee at [email protected] or 678.640.4055.  
  3. Monday afternoon practice: we need a good group of parents or teens to help us retrieve and wash the chairs and coolers from storage to prep for the swim meets. Please join us!
  4. Swimmers will get team shirts and swim caps at practice this week

Mock meet info:

  • Swimmers arrive at 4:30 pm to take the team picture. Wear the Swim Team t-shirt and team suit. *If you do not pick up team shirt this week, please arrive a few minutes early and pick up by the picnic table.
  • Warm-up begins at 5:00 pmSwim Meet begins at 5:30 pm (will last until ~8:30pm)
  • All swimmers will swim most events at the mock meet to get their “baseline time” for each event. 
  • Concessions: We will have pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, candy & drinks. Payment: We accept Zelle, Venmo, PayPal and cash. **We prefer Zelle!

Reminders from Coach Sydney:

  • All swimmers should have goggles at every practice.

Meet info for new families:

  • Write your swimmer's name on everything - shirt, towels, etc.
  • Swimmers are organized by age group in their “bullpens" under tents. A volunteer “Bullpen parent” is in charge of making sure that swimmers are lined up for their assigned events. They will walk the swimmers to the “holding area” where they will line up for their lanes.
  • Please assist in making sure that your child stays close to the bullpen so they are easy to find and don't miss their event.
  • What to bring: Swimmers need to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated in the heat, 2 towels (one to dry-off; one to sit on because they are in the grassy area), pair of goggles (or two in case they go missing or a strap breaks), swim cap (swimmers received a team cap), sunscreen, money for concession stand
  • Each event is assigned a number and written on the child's arm. There is a board with event # displayed during the meet so you can keep track.
  • You can access the assigned events on Swimtopia.

Upcoming events: Summer Practice Schedule begins on Tuesday, May 26th and we will have our Season Kick-off breakfast on Friday, May 29th. Calendar linked here
