READ ME! Action Needed!!
Greetings Neely Swim Families!
Please read this entire email. The next two weeks will be VERY BUSY, and there are SEVEN events for which I need a response THIS WEEK! Thank you in advance for spending a few minutes responding for all the events listed below.
- Team Dinner @ CPK
- Away Meet @ Pinewalk
- Away Meet @ Doublegate
- ASA Divisionals @ Georgia Tech
- Post-Divisional dinner at Babalu Tapas & Tacos
- ASA Finals (Championships) @ Georgia Tech
- End of Season Team Banquet
Join the coaches Wednesday, June 19th at 6:00 pm for this season’s second Team Dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. PLEASE RSVP HERE by Tuesday afternoon so I can send our count to the CPK manager (and they can have enough wait staff to feed our swimmers promptly!)
This week our swim meet is AWAY at Pinewalk, 10750 Buice Road Alpharetta, GA 30022. The theme for this meet is “Movies”. This includes Disney, Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, Legos, or any other kid-focused franchise.
If you have not RSVP’d for this meet, but your swimmers will be swimming, please TEXT me (678-525-1184), or Coach Madison (404-623-5538)!
Pinewalk has a 4-lane pool; you should expect the meet to run LONG and for your swimmer to swim fewer events than normal. Our bullpen is typically in the grassy area to the left of and outside the pool deck, so please bring chairs or a blanket for your swimmers to sit on.
This week the weather will feel like a typical summer in Atlanta…hot and muggy with thunderstorms forecasted for every afternoon. If you don’t have the Remind app…download it now.
Our last dual meet of the season will be AWAY on TUESDAY, June 25 against Doublegate, 9880 Twingate Drive, Johns Creek, GA 30022. Please RSVP HERE no later than this Thursday, June 20. The meet theme will be red, white and blue. Doublegate has a six-lane pool and plenty of room on their pool deck for our bullpens. They also run an efficient meet. Fingers crossed that we make it through the meet without any rain delays!
Next week our season will culminate with ASA “Divisionals” on June 27th from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm (warm-ups start at 1:30 pm) at the Georgia Tech Aquatics Center. For new swimmers, this is an enormous meet. The 1996 Olymipic Swimming and Diving events were held in this pool. It’s big, it’s deep, it’s cold, and it’s fast. And I LOVE watching our swimmers compete in this pool! I encourage every swimmer to attend. Please RSVP for this meet HERE by Wednesday, June 19. When doing so, please pick TWO (and only two) events you would like your swimmer to swim. The schedule will say you can pick three, but ASA rules say swimmers may swim two individual events and two relays.
After you’ve declared your swimmers for Divisionals, go HERE to pre-pay for parking. Trust me, you will want to pay in advance for parking in the deck. Georgia Tech has construction going on in multiple places. Be sure to select the PM Session for Thursday, June 27.
After you’ve paid for parking, go HERE to RSVP for the post-Divisional team dinner at Babalu Tapas & Tacos-Midtown. We will meet there after the last relay of our division. I need to know who will be joining us so I can confirm with the restaurant manager.
Next, please declare your swimmer’s availability for ASA Finals Saturday, June 29. This is important. We must know whether your swimmer will return for finals or not. If we scratch your swimmer AFTER Divisionals, we will be fined by the ASA. Please declare your intention to attend Finals, should your swimmer “make it”, HERE by Wednesday, June 19. Swimmers returning for finals must have individual event times that fall in the top 40 for 10 & Under swimmers or the top 30 for 11 & Up swimmers across all six Divisional meets. They may also be on a top 10 relay team.
Because Divisionals and Finals are ASA meets, we will submit entries for ONLY those swimmers who have RSVP’d as attending. We will not text, call or follow up. The ASA entry process is very strict and the entry deadline is a hard deadline. We have no wiggle room. Thank you in advance for responding promptly!
Last, but not least, please RSVP HERE for the End of Season Team Banquet by Friday, June 21. We will have a taco bar again this year and the event is open to all Neely Swim Families. We will provide the meat and drinks; the rest is “pot luck”. I will send the volunteer and food rosters later this week. (Keep in mind that every family attending is required to bring a dish and volunteer for a shift.) For now, I simply need to know who will be attending.
There is a rumor floating around that Madison may return to Atlanta next summer in order to coach our swim team, but she has not yet confirmed that rumor. This may be her last summer coaching the Neely Mallards. If so, let’s give her a great send off!!
Whew, you made it!! Thank you for reading all the way to the end!
See you at the pool!
