Week of 5/23

May 23rd

Good Morning Mallards!

We are off to a great start this season. The Mock Meet went off without a hitch and we are busy preparing for our first meet next week!

A Couple of Notes:

  • Please sign-up your swimmers for next Thursday's meet by Sunday. It is better to already have them signed up for the meet and pull them out for emergencies than sign-up late. The theme for the meet is NEON! Parents are encouraged to participate as well if they want!
  • Flip Flops - Parents, if you could make sure that your swimmer brings flip-flops to practice next Tuesday - that would be great!

Preferably flip-flops like these - boys may need to borrow from mom or sisters if possible! If not - slides will work as well. We are doing a new drill for breaststroke!

  • This week we have been focusing on Butterfly and Breaststroke. This shall continue next week as well, with some IM (Individual Medley) incorporated. Starts, Turns, and Finishes will be the focus of practice the morning before meets.
  • If you are interested in private lessons - please email or text me. We can schedule something with one of the available coaches for your preferred time.
  • Next Friday is the First Fun Friday of the year!!
  • Reminder: No Practice Monday. Enjoy the long-weekend!
  • If you have not yet - please download the Remind app and JOIN our group! It is great for reminders and last-minute quick messages.

**Also - my phone number changed in the fall. There was some confusion last week - my apologies! Here is my new number: (404) 623-5538, just in case you need it!

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need me or have any questions.

We have just completed our first full week of the summer swim season. Even though it has been a rainy start to the season, we have stuck with it and it looks to be sunny from here! This weeks notes:

Congratulations to our Mallards of the week!

  • 6&Under: Luke Brown and Vivi McCracken
  • 7-8: Harrison McCoy and Tristin White
  • 9-10: Andrew Sik and Avery White
  • 11-12: Tobin Hughes and Josi Youngman
  • 13-14: Paul Cassar and Tess Brons
  • 15-18: Carlos Silva and Ty Byers

  • THURSDAY PRACTICE ONLY: 11&Up will practice from 9:30-10:30. This will allow the older swimmers to have more of a break in between practice and the meet.
  • Stroke Clinics: All ages welcome from 9-10am on Saturday. If you are 6&Under, you will be practicing different strokes.
  • PLEASE RSVP - I get a lot of emails each week from parents about their swimmers in the meet. If you plan to swim, PLEASE RSVP online prior to the deadline. In this particular league it is extremely hard to add swimmers last minute. This not only effects the time I spend on entries each week but it creates a ripple effect for the volunteer listing. Based on the number of swimmers in each age-group, I can place your swimmers in a certain number of events. If someone is added last minute - that effects ALL the swimmers in each of the events. Also, I cannot promise that your swimmer will be able to swim a particular event, again, because of numbers. I will do my best though! I have attached a link of the rule book if you would like to glance.
  • ASA Rule Book
  • Team Dinner this Wednesday!
  • Team Picture before the meet this Thursday!
  • Stroke Clinic this week is Breaststroke

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Have a Wonderful Week - See you at the pool!
